Join us for our newly expanded book club discussion groups!
In recognition of the broad experiences and needs across the caregiver community, we’re excited to announce we’re expanding our book club!
We’ll now be offering two different sessions, so you can choose the one that you’re most interested in. Or sign up for both!
One group will be reading “The Connected Child,” by Karyn Purvis. This is a repeat of a group held in April, so if you missed the chance to participate please join us!
“The Connected Child” lays out the foundational principles for Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), a therapeutic model that trains caregivers to provide effective support and treatment for at-risk children.
The second group will be reading "Dancing with a Porcupine,” by Jennie Owens.
“Dancing with a Porcupine” shares the compelling story of the author’s struggle to save her own life while caring for three children she and her husband adopted from foster care.
For both groups, the Alliance CaRES team will lead a facilitated discussion around themes and how they relate to real-life experiences. So you can fully participate in the group, please have access to a copy of the book. You can find one at your local library, on Amazon or at local retailers.
“The Connected Child” book club runs over five sessions starting May 17.
“Dancing with a Porcupine” runs over three sessions starting May 18.
