Foster youth and youth experiencing homelessness are eligible for additional cash tax refunds in 2022

Hello there,

Just wanted to give you a heads up that during tax season this year, former foster youth and youth experiencing homelessness age 18+ are eligible for some extra direct cash refunds.

The Details:
The American Rescue Plan makes this possible through the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit (CTC), and Economic Impact Payments (EIP).

It’s tax season now! Get your refund.

People who owe taxes must file or request an extension by April 18th

Some transition-aged youth do not owe taxes and must file by October 17th

Once you file your taxes, you will likely be eligible for a cash back tax refund of up to $1,500! You can choose whether you’d like to receive the money by direct deposit to a bank account (takes about 10 days) or a paper check (takes about 4-6 weeks).

What to do next?

Step 1: Get your personal info ready. Follow this checklist.
