SB 5824 Providing dependent youth with financial education and support

Nathan LaChine our founder had the opportunity to testify on SB 5824 which would provide youth ages 14 – 17 in DCYF care a $25/month stipend deposited directly into the youth’s own bank account. This gives youth in care the opportunity to learn money management skills and improve financial literacy.

The bill is SB 5824, sponsored by Senator Nobles and being heard in the Senate Human Resources, Reentry, and Rehabilitation committee. You can see a list of committee members here.

Approximately 800 youth ages 14 - 17 and 830 young adults ages 18 - 20 would be eligible for the $25/month allowance.
